Frequently Asked Questions
Do you do board and train?
Yes, under very rare circumstances I will take in a dog to train, however, I feel strongly that the dog owner Is 100 percent committed to learning how to properly handle their own dog and the issues with their dog.
Do you train all breeds of dogs?
Yes. I train all breeds, all ages, and all sizes.
Is your training all “positive”?
No. My training is balanced. I use positive and negative reinforcers, rewards and consequences. The key to my training style is fair and appropriate communication to shape the behaviors that you want.
Do you use a specific training technique?
We use a technique known as "marker" training, which comes from Ivan Pavlov's "classical conditioning". This training technique communicates directly to the dog that they have been successful or that they have failed with their actions. The actions of the dog are created by environmental stimulus or commands taught to the dog and are used with every dog going through our training.
How long will it take to train my dog?
Difficult to answer until I’ve seen your dog. Obedience, anxiety, fear and aggression are all subject to the dog’s individual gifts as well as the dog’s general environment.
How long are training sessions?
Training sessions are typically one hour in length.
Do I have to be a part of the training?
Yes! It is your utmost responsibility to be an active part of your dog’s training.
